NEAT regularly features Authors, Playwrights & Poets in our DARK MONDAY @ MERLIN series
NEAT – New English American Theatre presents
CONSOLATIONS: The Poetry of Gabriele Glang featuring Florian Eisentraut at the Piano

NEAT – New English American Theatre is proud to feature aspiring as well as established, published Authors, Poets, Playwrights and giving them the opportunity to present their own works on a regular basis with the DARK MONDAY @ MERLIN series. In the past we have collaborated with prize winning author Jadi Campbell on Music & Text projects, presented several new plays by Michael Hilton, introduced the young Scottish Poet Archie MacJoyce to our Stuttgart audience, hosted the award winning Poets Stephen Thomas and Sera Babakus. It has become an annual tradition to feature new works by the WRITERS IN STUTTGART collective and Daniel Regelbrugge.
This month, we are very pleased to present American Poetess Gabriele Glang for the first time as our guest. She will be accompanied by Pianist Florian Eisentraut.
The Virginia-born, bilingual German-American poet and painter Gabriele Glang resides in southern Germany. A George Mason University (BA in creative writing, Fairfax, Virginia) and George Washington University (MA level publications specialist, Washington, DC) alumnus, Glang’s first book, Stark Naked on a Cold Irish Morning, was published by SCOP Publications in 1990.
Gabriele Glang is a docent for creative writing in English and intercultural communication at the University of Applied Sciences at Esslingen for 14 years, she has taught numerous creative writing workshops in both German and English. To satisfy her performance gene, she enjoys reading her poetry to audiences in both Germany and the US, and particularly enjoys conceiving collaborative performances with musicians. She has continually been making art and taking private classes since early childhood.
After moving to Southern Germany in 1990, where she married and raised two sons, her poetic voice initially suffered from culture shock; thus the art making intensified. She has taught countless plein air landscape painting workshops both in Germany and abroad, exhibiting her work throughout Germany, the US, Denmark, and France.
Her work focuses on a variety of mediums, including Japanese wood lithography and pulp painting. The culmination of these develpments is the artist’s book, which she perceives as the ideal marriage of her two great passions in life: Poetry and Painting.
