Overdosed on pills, the woman behind the icon unravels her remarkable life and bares all, revealing a biting intelligence, a frustrated talent and an imperfect body. New English American Theatre (Neat) is thrilled to introduce German audiences to\u00a0THE UNREMARKABLE DEATH OF MARILYN MONROE<\/strong>. The play opens March 31 at Theater am Olgaeck<\/a>. \u00a0The show will also be part of the American Days in Stuttgart this year.<\/p>\n“This play might at first glance be about Marilyn Monroe but, really it’s a play about love and the events in our lives that make us who we are”, says playwright Elton Townend Jones about his\u00a0show. Townend Jones is no stranger to Stuttgart audiences. Neat produced his comedy THE DIARIES OF ADAM AND EVE<\/strong> last Summer.<\/p>\n “The text of the Marilyn play is incredibly accurate<\/span>“, says director Charles C. Urban.\u00a0Those unfamiliar with Monroe\u2019s private life would discover interesting truths about her marriages to Joe Dimaggio, Arthur Miller career, her relationships with Yves Montand, Laurence Olivier, Billy Wilder, Tony Curtis, Clark Gable, Julius Henry “Groucho” Marx\u00a0 as well as her affairs with the Kennedy brothers.\u00a0<\/span>“Having had the pleasure of directing Townend Jones\u2019s adaptation of Mark Twain\u2019s THE DIARIES OF ADAM AND EVE<\/strong>, I was very anxious to read the author\u2019s newest published play”, Urban says.
