The Folk and Blues music of the Sixties strikes a special note with audiences today, maybe because we are once more living in times of great social and political upheaval. This may go some way towards explaining the success of Erica Applezweig and Michael Hecht’s shows at Dreigroschentheater in 2016 and 2017 – the other contributing factor of course being the unique stage presence of the performers!
Erica is a dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker and an eye witness of the Greenwich Village scene of the Sixties, and Michael is an accomplished singer and guitarist, and so together they are ideally suited to bringing to life the atmosphere of those heady days, through a selection of Folk and Blues pieces by Village greats like Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton and Bessie Smith and through Erica’s accounts of life in the Village.
To give more people a chance to see the show, Dreigroschen Theater has booked Erica and Michael for two shows at the end of February this year.
